Beat Your Heart Out

A good episode. I thought this was the episode where we got an Addison crossover and I kept expecting her to show up and I waited and waited and she never showed up.

1) Meredith/Cristina. Back to normal thank gods. In fact they are really back to normal – I saw nothing in their interactions that would indicate they had ever been in a fight and hadn’t been speaking for weeks. I’m thinking that Derek spent a lot of time sitting outside Cristina’s place (or Cristina came home with them, or Mere went up with Cristina and spent the night at her place). But I don’t care because I’m just happy that they’re back together. I loved Meredith getting Cristina to pre-read the journal that takes place at the start of the Richard/Ellis affair. But would it really only be one journal? I figured their affair took place over years and that one or both of them had feelings for the other before they ever actually got together.

2) Callie/Arizona scene. This was very unexpected but I’m really pleased. The spoilers/rumours I read back at the beginning of the season said Callie would be getting together with Sadie and what we’ve gotten from them has not made me like them. I did not like at all Callie acting like an idiot the first time they had a scene together and then in the subsequent meetings. It was annoying. It felt juvenile (which okay on this show whatever). It was just not working for me. So when Arizona followed Callie into the bathroom my interest suddenly went up and I knew before she kissed Callie where they were going with this and I was so pleased. Personally I rather like Arizona and I’m really looking forward to Callie/Arizona. I really enjoyed their short scene and how they were with each other (Callie was an adult!). And of course I’m relieved that they aren’t going Sadie/Callie cause they were not working for me.

3) Derek proposal shenanigans. Who knew? I actually really enjoyed all of them. It was fun and cute and kind of adorable. Derek telling Mark and Mark telling Richard and Owen, and Derek telling Cristina, and then forced to tell Lexie and his patient. And all of the reactions to the news. I loved how excited Richard was about it (like he wasn’t just Meredith’s boss) and I loved Lexie’s expression as she learnt about it. I also love everyone giving him different advice and him being so confused. I wonder just how long it’s going to take for everyone in the hospital to know? With this hospital it won’t be long.

- Oh, Izzie. You’re a doctor, you know seeing things like Denny probably means a neurological issue and you live with a top-rated neurological surgeon – tell someone, tell your doctor friends, tell the neurosurgeon you live with, don’t try and do random tests on yourself! Yeesh. Then she ends up getting the interns to do tests on her under the guise of teacher though that has the positive affect of – teaching the interns. So that’s something.

- Interesting that Lexie and Sadie were sitting with our residents during lunch. I loved that all the residents were together at lunch. We need more of that. The talk about the sex magazine was amusing.

- I loved Bailey getting all excited about being promoted and how happy she was. I liked her storyline with the child.
