I am so obsessed with this show.

Hye Ri / In Woo

This was an excellent episode for them. We got a piggyback ride, shopping together, In Woo teach her how to cook, them sharing food, and Hye Ri soothing In Woo during a nightmare. They are so cute together! Loved the piggy back – they looked adorable, and he seemed so happy (which made me feel sad for him). The shopping trip was adorable. My favourite moment though was Hye Ri comforting sleeping In Woo during his nightmare.

Hye Ri was finally starting to see In Woo in a new light – first with the kiss and then when she witnessed his nightmare - but then the end of the episode caused her to see him in an entirely different new light. It’s interesting because after she talks with him about his past and he basically gives her a lot of non-answers she seems satisfied with it. If she hadn’t seen the picture he’d carelessly missed would she have continue on as before, fine with not digging deeper?

More importantly is this going to mean Hye Ri vs In Woo now? Is this the end of her trusting him?

- Since this is Hye Ri she of course immediately confronted him. I loved that.

- Now that Hye Ri knows that In Woo was at the gambling hideout and was fighting I hope it'll come up again.

- I loved In Woo leaving Hye Ri breakfast.

- I find it sad how touched In Woo is by Hye Ri making the smallest gesture of caring (getting medicine for his foot).

- I honestly feel like In Woo stalking Hye Ri should bother me but it just doesn’t. He keeps appearing out of nowhere. Like magic. And it’s kind of become this running gag that I find it amusing. His stash of stalker photos of her gave me a little pause but again not at all what I would expect. Honestly I’m more bothered about not being bothered. I know he has something bad planned so really the stalker behaviour is not really unexpected or out of bounds. Plus there's his smile, and he likes her so much and keeps helping her and angsts about it all so much and so prettily. I can’t help but love him.

The Mystery of In Woo

This is killing me. It looks like my second theory was wrong. The reason he wants revenge looks to be because of a car accident – it appears as if his mother was killed in one. It has to have been Hye Ri’s father who killed her. Perhaps he was found blameless because of his money? I still think Hye Ri’s father is in construction and it’s through that that they are trying to get at him (via suing his company.) Or at least one of the ways In Woo’s trying for revenge.

- There was also some forward movement as far as Jung Nan goes – during her fight with her husband in front of Hye Ri we get a couple pieces of, thus far, cryptic information dropped. Something happened 15 years ago which is when the husband bought some land with money that she states wasn’t his but he refutes was what he ‘received’. She in turn replies “I didn’t do anything then? Did you do it all by yourself?” He demands to know what she did and she states “If only I hadn’t stayed quiet.” Now I don’t have any idea about the specifics, and I don’t even want to speculate because I am always wrong, but I have to say I am pretty impressed with In Woo and how well his plan seems to be coming together. Okay, I lied, here’s some speculation:

In Woo has stated from the beginning that he wants Hye Ri to be a ‘good’ prosecutor, everything indicates he needs her to be, and to that goal he has done everything he can to help her and nurture her. At the same time he was apparently making nice with Jung Nan, who witnessed or knew something and kept quiet about it, while in disguise. It looks to me as if he’s been manipulating her – ‘supporting’ her to get rid of her husband – with every intention of having their case come before Hye Ri. Counting on the husband trying to sell her house seems iffy but I wouldn’t put it past him to have had someone working on the husband as well (though I suppose if he’s a drunk/greedy it was likely). With his encouragement he pushes Jung Nan into making it a criminal matter. He gets it assigned to Hye Ri – how, who knows, this is what he does and it wouldn’t be the first time – and with his mentoring of Hye Ri into being a thorough prosecutor he has set up her discovering what exactly happened fifteen years ago.

... Now how that ties in to his revenge on her father I don’t know. But it appears the husband was paid off probably by Hye Ri’s father. Was it over In Woo’s mother’s death? Hmm. No, more likely I think it has something to do with the unsafe construction.

- I have no idea how the flower seller ties in to all this. Perhaps In Woo’s question about whether he’d ever done something bad in his past will prove to be more important than I thought at the time. Perhaps he was involved in whatever happened fifteen years ago? In Woo’s fee was a favour – perhaps he’ll use that to force the man to tell the truth? I do find myself wondering if he set up the situation with the man’s son.

Other Things

- Hye Ri the Prosecutor pleases me so much. She has improved so much. She’s competent, caring and hardworking. I love her enthusiasm for her work. Her solving the fraud case – via design knowledge – was excellent and I loved her assertively dismantling everything the woman said. I especially loved the contrast in her attitude between her second meeting with the lady (i.e. confident) and her first meeting with her (i.e. timid and unsure).

Her being unwilling to accept the car accident case at face value and actually going out and investigating was great. I’m betting the woman who was driving was having an affair with the victim’s husband. I loved that as soon as she and In Woo returned from their investigating she immediately wanted to start working. I love that she worked all night on it.

- “I’m going to court. Be my chauffeur.” – In Woo. I loved them car-pooling to work and everyone reacting to it.

- “She doesn’t know that I’m betraying her.” – Hye Ri’s mother. And his response is about ‘marriage’. Hmm. Considering how close they are I am surprised that Hye Ri's mom didn't go behind her dad's back to tell her about whatever scheme he's dreamed up.

- Jung Sun didn’t really have anything to do in this episode but I really appreciated how she and Hye Ri are so professional at work. I also loved her reactions to Hye Ri at lunch – she smiled at her three times when Hye Ri was all excited and bragging about her win at work. She seemed to be honestly pleased for her.

- “In Woo. Get your head on straight. It’s Ma Hye Ri. Ma Hye Ri!” – Jeni. I found the way she said that really interesting. As if Hye Ri is utterly forbidden.
