Prosecutor Princess Episode 15 Thoughts
Aug. 31st, 2011 09:22 pmI can’t believe there is only one episode left after this.
• Hye Ri was wonderful. I loved her nervous talking to In Woo. I really liked her refusal to resign and run away. I loved that she did the right thing by approaching the Chief with the case instead of trying to cover it up. Plus there were a lot of little moments that were great.
• In Woo deciding to drop the case and cover everything up for Hye Ri (and her mom) was a bit unexpected but I loved it. It was a huge step towards choosing the future instead of the past. Now if only he’ll give up on the idea of returning to America forever. (Also I am choosing to ignore the promise Sang Tae forced him to make regarding leaving Hye Ri. Clearly that will be cleared up, Sang Tae will realise his mistake and everyone will be happy!)
• I’m seeing a similarity between In Woo and Sang Tae, or rather my feelings about them. With In Woo the biggest issue I have isn’t with his motives or his ruthlessness and manipulation to clear his father’s name it’s the fact that he used Mae Ri – that he chose her specifically because of her father, he became her friend and confidant, all the while knowing that he was going to destroy her. With Sang Tae the death of Myung Woo isn’t the horrible thing he did – it was clearly an accident (and possibly not even his fault) – no, it was when he left Myung Woo bleeding without even an anonymous call to the police and it was especially when he let an innocent man go to jail. In fact he purposefully lied after Dong Geun was arrested in a way that further implicated him (saying he’d sent Dong Geum to meet Myung Woo).
• I’ve become so fond of stalker In Woo – he just suddenly appears and I’m like ‘aww’.
• The Ae Ja/Hye Ri confrontation was really sad. I was really not expecting Ae Ja to start hitting her! She just never came off as the hitting type with her daughter – she’s always been much more the coddling and supportive type. But then her world is falling apart and she’s upset and I can understand “family should come first” (and so does In Woo). Both of them are just so devastated in this scene. I love that when Hye Ri explains – she couldn’t beg In Woo to forgive her father not because of her love for him but because of all he’d lost – Ae Ja just understands her exactly. Because they are alike in so many ways.
• I love that In Woo overheard the Hye Ri/Ae Ja conversation.
• Jung Sun and Se Joon continued to be a needed break from the angst. Jung Sun was amusing and awkward. I thought she looked good in the skirt and heels.
• I loved Hye Ri’s thumbs up at Jung Sun. She’s emotional devastated but she can still be supportive and caring. And I loved that later when the truth is out Jung Sun is all “you should have trusted me and told me!” I wish we’d gotten more of their relationship.
• I love that Jeni is so completely on In Woo’s side and that her one concern is for him. She loves him enough that she left her country for a couple years on the seemingly hopeless task of clearing his father’s name. Of course she wouldn’t like Hye Ri – she has no reason to. She isn’t in love with her, she hasn’t spent any time getting to know her and all she knows is her best friend’s pain, and the further grief knowing Hye Ri has caused him. I think she has a good point with regards to Hye Ri confessing her love to In Woo. We know she wasn’t trying to manipulate him but I can see how Jeni would come to that conclusion. Especially when it appears that Hye Ri ‘wins’, as she says, – with career, both parents, wealth – while In Woo returns home worse off – having failed his promise and falling in love and losing Hye Ri as well. So I completely understand her anger.
But I don’t agree with her idea that Hye Ri ‘wins’. I really don’t think there can be winners and losers in this type of situation. In some ways Hye Ri is better – her career, her knowledge and self-worth and determination, she has grown so much – but she has also gone through a lot of devastation, her relationship with her father will never be the same, and she fell in love with In Woo and was betrayed by him and then (maybe) lost him. I can understand why Jeni doesn’t see the ways that Hye Ri has been hurt as well but I don’t agree.
• I’m really glad that Hye Ri was thinking about the case, about In Woo, before Jeni’s arrival. From that I was already getting the feeling that she was wrestling with the idea of covering it up or telling the truth. I love how determined she was to both make sure In Woo kept his promise and clear his father’s name and to prove her own father’s innocence at the same time. Because she is not afraid of things other people might consider impossible.
• “My daughter is a million times more amazing!” – Sang Tae. Aw. He is so proud of her and loves her so much.
• I find In Woo working as Sang Tae’s lawyer almost too much. I was with Sang Tae on it. It’s just – In Woo hates him! Sang Tae let In Woo’s father take the blame for something he did! It’s ridiculous!
• In Woo’s prodding Sang Tae about the congressman makes me wonder if there’s still another twist to this story? I’m not sure if there would have been enough time but after Sang Tae called could he have sent someone to ‘clean up’ his mess? Like, erase evidence that Sang Tae had been there and then Myung Woo was found alive and another man finished the job? Or, I don’t even want to know.
I guess I still don’t want Sang Tae to be completely guilty. But then him keeping it a secret, and framing someone else, bothers me a hell of a lot more than the actual accidental killing and I would think it would bother In Woo more as well. After all the real issue In Woo has with him isn’t the death of Myung Woo it’s the fact that Dong Geum was found guilty of it, sent to jail and died there. He doesn’t care about Myung Woo. So whether Sang Tae meant to kill him or not shouldn’t really matter because he did purposefully let Dong Geum go to jail.
• “This is the kind of scary, meticulous, persistent person I am” and I love In Woo for it.
• I loved Hye Ri covering for Jeni (for sending her boss the case information). Because she understands why Jeni did it (to protect In Woo) and doesn’t blame her for it.
• I love that the prosecutor’s had a meeting about Hye Ri’s father’s case and they just couldn’t decide what to do. It makes me go aww.
