Nikita 2x03 Review

Very enjoyable.
• My favourite scene was Nikita and Nikita/Michael after the house exploded. I loved Nikita’s reaction when she thought Michael was dead. Maggie Q did an excellent job. But I adored what happened after he climbed out of the hidden passageway - her jumping him and the way she held him so tightly to her and he clung to her, her little sobbing gasps of relief and the way she couldn’t seem to stop touching him for the rest of their scenes, and how they just held each other the whole time. ♥ I've watched that scene a couple of times now. I love Nikita/Michael this season and they were truly excellent in this episode.
• The most surprising moment for me was learning Nikita’s last name is Mears (Meers?). I don’t think we ever got LFN’s Nikita’s last name. I read that this season we’re going to learn more about Nikita’s past and I can’t wait. Considering that Nikita never knew her birth parents I find myself wondering if they might not go the LFN route with her? I could like that.
- Actually if the show was going to go the route of making one of the higher ups Nikita’s parent I think they should makes Alberta Watson’s Oversight character, who I just figured out is actually named Madeline, Nikita’s birth mother. I would be ridiculously gleeful if they did that. Now that I’ve thought of it this is my new fanon.
• I definitely saw Alex killing Kochenko, regardless of orders, coming.
• “And I understand we’re all together in my place shacked up like the bizarro Three’s Company but you can’t keep putting me in the middle of your relationship stuff. It’s not fair to me, it’s not my job.” LOL
• It bugs me that Alexandra and Kochenko were speaking English instead of Russian in the flashback. It doesn’t really make sense.
• “You don’t want to get into a knife fight with a Russian.”
“I am Russian.”
• I still like Alex and Sean’s interactions thought they haven’t had the same... oomph as their first scene in Amanda’s office. I think I want some more antagonism between them. Maybe some UST-filled physical fights? Maybe we’ll get that in the next episode. I do like him trying to help her in his own way. He also seemed worried about her which was a little interesting. I wonder why he is so interested in her? Is it just because of his lack of trust because of who she is or does he have some other reason to keep an eye on her?
• I like Amanda’s new ‘Birkoff’ Sonja. Her little almost eye roll when Amanda mused that perhaps things are better because there’s a woman in charge amused me. I also like that she’s competent at her job and always calm.
• I did think it was off that Birkoff was just like ‘I can’t do it’. I would have bought ‘it’s taking longer than I thought’ much more. He would have kept trying. Especially considering it was Michael and Nikita’s lives on the line.
• Amanda seemed very effected when she thought she’d killed Michael. We didn’t get a lot on their relationship last season but she might have been in charge of him at one point. I hope they follow up on her reaction.
• “I’m dead without him.” – Nikita. In another instance this might have bothered me but I understand it here. It not just because she’s in love with him but she needs him in her life. When she was alone she became consumed by her mission. She had Alex but she felt the need to protect Alex from the truth and they weren’t truly partners. Michael is her partner and equal and he gives her a balance that she needs. Plus she has loved him for years, and now she has him and it would be devastating for her to lose him. I wonder what she would have done if he really had died?
• I’m surprised that Michael told Amanda that she missed because this would have been the perfect opportunity for them to fake his death (though it wouldn’t have lasted long).
• I really liked Birkoff’s reaction when he realised that Michael was alive.
