The Blacklist 6x01 Thoughts

I loved the opening bank robbery. Red was in fine form and I always enjoy when he's having fun.
Jennifer is so into this whole investigation/revenge plot in a way I wasn't expecting. Like, it doesn't seem entirely about revenge or wanting the truth for her. She confesses to Liz that she had no life and it seems this whole situation has become a purpose for her. She's excited about what they're doing and she's having fun. It's interesting.
I'm enjoying Jennifer/Liz. I like how impressed Jennifer is by Liz, I like her enthusiasm, and the way she seemed to want to impress Liz with her discovery of the fire house, and that she didn't blame Liz for their father's death. She didn't even hesitate which I really liked. I'd like to see Liz be there for Jennifer too and for them to create a genuine bond.
I'm really surprised that there wasn't any underlying tension between Liz and Jennifer over Garvey's death. Especially after Liz revealed that she shot their father. That's two father's of Jennifer's that Liz has shot and killed. I'm enjoying them but I really hope that Garvey comes back up again.
Cooper offering to let Liz back away from working with Red was sweet but why now?
It was so great to see Dembe all happy and having fun at the bar.
I liked that little Dembe/Samar exchange.
"Being honest means one doesn't lie, deceive or cheat. Where you are concerned I don't." - Red. Wow, that's a load of nonsense! If he'd left it at lie maaaaaybe but 'deceive'? He deceives her all the time!
Red offering his secrets for Liz's definitely shows that he knows something is up with her. There is no way he'd tell her the truth about the bones, so he was fishing and her response told him that he was right to be suspicious.
If Liz is going to 'outpreform' Red she's really going to do better. I mean she didn't do badly but she was subtly off all episode. Also her little digs like "who are you and what have you done with the real Raymond Reddington" was rather fun but maybe going a little too far.
An easy secret for Liz to have offered up to Red could have been her continued relationship with Jennifer. After all they are half-sisters and it would make sense that Liz would want to know her. It would have the bonus of offering some cover for them working together.
"My father was kind and decent and beautiful. Inside and out." I love it. I love her digging the knife in. I love her reaching out to take his hand and him grasping it back. I love the positioning - the distance between them physically, the fact that they weren't looking at each other, how bleak both of them were. It was so great.
Everything Liz had to say was all well and good except that among the little we know about the original Raymond Reddington is the fact that he had an affair and child while married and that he kidnapped said child from her mother. Liz shot him when he got into a physical fight with Katerina. That doesn't mean he couldn't have been a good person in general but he wasn't the maybe saint she seems to want to paint him. I wonder if her journey is going to include her losing her idealisation of him.
