It was okay.

+ Sidney is a fighter, that’s what she does, and that’s what we get throughout most of this movie too. Her fighting back, pretty effectively at that, whenever she’s forced to – except when Jill reveals herself and holds a knife to her. Then Sidney stands there doing nothing while everything is revealed and Jill kills first Trevor and then Charlie. At no point do we see her even try and fight back and that felt very false for the character.

+ Sidney having Jill hide under the bed was one of the weakest parts of the movie. Even as I was watching I was going “the hell? That’s a terrible idea!” because it is and was. There had to have been a better way to separate Jill and Sidney more believably.

+ I also thought Kirby getting separated was weird and sudden. It was like what the hell happened to her? Why wouldn’t she an Jill have run in the same direction? I mean it’s probable that Jill separated from her on purpose but we don’t see it so it comes off as, well, off.

+ I really wish more time was spent with Jill’s mother Kate. She was barely a character, except for one moment, but we don’t see anything of her relationships with Jill or Sydney and I think that made it a weaker movie. Her death should have had so much more meaning. It also should have been one of the first things Sidney said to Jill post-reveal.

+ I wish they’d skipped the whole Judy/Dewey/Gale non-love triangle. They could have easily still had the Judy/Gale tension by turning the crush (and active pursuit of Dewey) into Judy hero-worshipping him and having a personality clash with Gale.

+ Also I was slightly annoyed with the whole Gale gave up her dream to move back with Dewey and how she was struggling with that.

+ I wish there had been some mention of Mark Kincaid and that he and Sidney were still a couple. I like the idea that Sidney's happy ending in Scream 3 is still there.

+ Rebecca really should have stayed in the car and called for help. She probably still would have died but it would have been smarter than making a run for it.

Wow, that was actually a lot of complaining! Despite that I didn't hate the movie or anything.

+ It was great to see Sidney again. I enjoyed her a lot.

+ I also really liked Gale.

+ I liked how they called back to the previous movies and tied this movie into them.

+ Jill being the killer worked for me. Her growing up always hearing about Sidney (while not actually having a relationship with her) and that feeding her inferiority complex and jealousy made enough sense for a horror movie. Charlie was mostly just there as a roughed in accomplice but was fine.

+ I thought Kirby was great. I was hoping she would survive but knew she wouldn’t.

+ I liked that small moment between Dewey and Sidney at the Roberts house.

+ Perkins death and Ghostface’s confuzzled reaction to it amused me.

+ Kate really was barely there but there is one scene where she mentions Sidney's mother was her sister and no one cares about the scars she has from that that gave her some unexpected depth (that was then ignored) that I loved.
