6x04 'The Pawnbrokers' (No. 146)

+ Is it really in Red’s best interests to prove that he can be as effective in jail as out?

+ It continues to annoy me how Liz is portrayed sometimes in her job. In this case she was barely there. She was shown having no real active role during the hand-off/gun fight – it was all on Ressler. She was basically just one of those background agents. When they learned about them being MSS agents Liz went to thinking about the airports and was corrected by both Ressler and Samar that they’re obviously going to the embassy – even though Liz did that exact thing herself a couple season ago! And then she wasn’t even involved in the take-down. It all rubbed me wrong.

+ Wow, Liz gave up so easy on not learning more about Red. They ran into one roadblock and she kind of shrugged and went ‘eh what can you do’. Her feeling worry and regret after he was beat up, sure. But simply giving up? That vengeance trip did not last long. It’s so weird. Sometimes it’s as if she’s no longer angry at Red at all.

+ Aw, I like Vontae. He’s sweet. He really needs to get out with Red, meet Dembe, join the team.

6x05 'Alter Ego' (No. 131)

+ I love that Dembe put his fingers over Red's when they met at the cell.

+ It's interesting to have Dembe back to beating the 'tell Elizabeth the truth' drum and tying that into him trying to save Red's soul. I hope the eventual reveal lives up to all this.

+ Liz is once again only entirely upset and worried about Red. No anger. She was teary-eyed at the end! I wonder if they decided that the best way to deal with Liz's anger and feelings of betrayal, and get her past them, was to have her do something terrible to Red that she in turn would end up feeling bad about, making her once again sympathetic towards him? I just find the direction they've gone with for her this season a little -- weird. There is so much less anger for her, and exploration of that anger, and watching her work through it than I was expecting. To be honest I'm disappointed by it. This feels a little too easy after how last season ended. I've always thought she loved Red and would eventually move past her anger but I wanted that anger actually explored a little beforehand. It's been building for five years! I want that pay off and I feel like we're not getting it.

+ I am very confused about why Liz and Ressler separated at the hotel. Why would Liz go to the hotel security instead of going with Ressler to Timothy's room? It'd make sense if we saw them get two separate possible locations for him but there was no hint of that. It didn't make any sense.

+ Poor Timothy. Sure, he's now a billionaire but he's also completely alone and betrayed in the worst way by the woman he loved and the people who were supposed to be his family. He and Liz should start a support group. Hmm, I wonder if Liz could ever use Red lying about being her father to get Timothy to side with her against him.

+ I'm continuing to enjoy the judge. I like her.

+ It was nice to see Liz teasing Ressler. It feels like a long time since we've had something so lighthearted between them.
