6x06 'The Ethicist' (No. 91)

+ I had no problem with Liz letting Klepper kill himself to get the name. TBH, I'm not even sure why this was such a difficult choice for Liz. Not that she hesitated much. But I mean last season she killed a man and then covered it up. Looking back over everything she has done letting a serial killer kill himself - eh. Now if his price had been letting him go and she had done it that would have been a 'whoa, too far' moment. (And if she done that and then immediately set it up for him to be killed it would have been a delightful Red-redux moment. Now I'm really disappointed at that missed opportunity.)

But it wasn't. A killer is dead by his own hands thus preventing others from dying in the future, the families get closure and hell, this doesn't even assure Tamerlane getting away with everything since he confessed to Liz about his dealings with Klepper.

It was absolutely a Red move to make and I liked Liz confronting how much she's changed since he entered her life. But it was hardly the worst or most unethical choice she's made and I wonder how much it would have weighed on her if Jennifer hadn't been there being appalled, and Ressler hadn't figured it out?

+ I continue to really like how they're moving Liz into slowly becoming Red. Though I wish they were more consistent with it. Her deciding to create her own Blacklister to get the TaskForce to help her complete her own goals was excellent. I loved it. But I really wish we'd get to see more of her creating her own network of allies. We got one and then it was sort of dropped.

+ I would like for the show to confront the fact that Liz is 100% willing to use and lie to her co-workers/friends when she needs to because it's a pretty consistent thing with her and I don't feel like it's ever really been addressed.

+ I did have an issue with Liz giving Klepper his gun and then turning her back on him to walk out. ... the hell!? That was a terrible idea. He's a serial killer! He can't be trusted to not shoot her in the back. The directing of that scene was so bad. That was a bad choice. It made Liz look dumb in a really unnecessary way and I'm choosing to think of it as a terrible directing choice rather than a stupid thing the character did.

+ Ressler covering for Liz was nice but him accepting no explanation was a little hard to swallow.

6x07 'General Shiro' (No. 116)

+ The Liz/Dembe scene was great. I actually liked that she doesn't even bother asking him to tell her the truth. Her saying, far more than questioning, that he knows all the answers she's looking for came off far more defeated and bitter? Because she knows he'd never betray Red by telling her. It's a constant refrain but I really wish we'd had more scenes between them.

+ "Dembe's always saved my life." - Red. ♥ I love Dembe's devotion to Red and I really appreciate when we see Red acknowledging (or returning) it. It was a nice little story.

+ The fact that we get Katerina, and how Liz reminds people of her, brought up twice is interesting. I wonder if this season is actually going to finally bring Katerina up in a significant way?

+ Wait, Dembe met Katerina? Is that even possible timeline-wise? Is this proof that Katerina did survive going into the ocean at Cape May and Red knew it? That we're finally going to come back to Dembe's "what you did to Katerina" back in season 4? Because unless this a timeline mess up I'm pretty sure Katerina died several years before Red saved Dembe.

+ The Red/Glenn phone calls amused me. I do love when Glenn leaves Red speechless and bewildered.
