True Blood 3x09 Thoughts

I didn’t really like this episode. My overwhelming feeling was ‘eh’.
• The best parts were
1) Eric/Pam scenes which were wonderful as always especially the one with them alone together. “We’ve lived through so much for so long. It can’t end this quickly.” And she cries and holds onto him, and he holds her back and rests his head on hers and it made me awww a lot.
2)the Lafayette/Jesus/Ruby Jean scene which was just very sweet and nice.
• The Sookie/Hadley scene felt like it could have been far more interesting than it was.
• I was very annoyed that Eric didn’t have a plan to deal with Russell but apparently just acted impulsively. Really? That is so stupid.
• Bill/Sookie being firmly back together makes me sigh. I am so over them. The shower scene was really eh, though I admit I found them dealing with the werewolf body somewhat amusing. I also liked that Sookie did find Bill keeping a file on her creepy instead of just waving it off (and his lie about it gives me hope it’ll all blow up in his face eventually.) Oh, and: “You have to stop thinking about me as a thing to be protected.” That would be nice.
• I don’t understand Bill finding his way into the Garden, him telling Claudine “I would never hurt her.” made me go ‘um’ a lot, and I am confused about why exactly Claudine would ever tell a vampire such an important secret instead of telling Sookie directly. That really didn’t work for me.
• Jason and Sam both remain mostly ‘whatever’ for me though I did like both of their interactions with Tara, and that both of them were there for her.
• While I like Jason saving Tara (and in a way it feels like him paying her back for the grief he caused her when he killed Eggs) I wish she could have saved herself. Her ‘killing’ Franklin with the mace was such a great moment, a moment of her taking back control (even knowing he wasn’t dead) and making her the victim in need of saving again feels very much like a step back.
• Hoyt’s been falling in my estimation since season two but I think I actually don’t like him anymore. I can’t remember if I’d already realised this or not but him bring Summer to Merlottes to shove her in Jessica’s face again, and then talking to Jessica about how much he hates her, and how she talks too much, and how he’s only with her because he’s bored was just horrible. Ugh. I really hope Jessica and Hoyt don’t get back together.
