Seeing your family coming together is a magnificent thing, even when it's your family's pets.

Every person who has a pet knows they are an indispensable part of their family. They're an ingrained part of the fabric that threads the family together, sometimes with fluffy hugs, sometimes with sharing a meal (of human food, of course), and sometimes with opening up to each other in ways we didn't even know were possible. Heck, even your goldfish is such a pet, sometimes - you can tell them all your secrets, load all the trouble of the day, and they'll never peep a word out to anyone else. Pets are amazing.

One expurrienced pet pawrent shared the heartwarming story of their family's shy cat, who - for the first time since she was adopted - has willingly gone right up to the family's delightful dog, and cuddled her. Now, it's very clear that she's friendly, she's a cat-loving dog, but it's the cat who was extra shy and skittish. But just like some people need time to open up, so do animals. Our pets are no different than us in a lot of parameters - we're all living, breathing, thinking, and feeling creatures.

Cats can be skittish by nature, it's not that uncommon. This fact can lead to many cute first-encounter cat stories, but this isn't one of them. Here is a cat, a gorgeous and absolutely ameowzing cat, who's just extra shy. If what she needed was time and reassurance, it's what she's got. What a wonderful family she has, a safe space that understands her needs. We love that for her.

Cats have it all figured out: when you want something, scream until someone listens. When you don't want something, scream until they stop doing it. So, if you want this Meownday to be over faster, do as the cats do: scream.

We saw that we are our cats' owners, but we all know that they own us. Did we train them to get off the counter, or did they train us to give them a treat every time they get off? Did we "figure out" how to get them to drink more water, or did they train us to leave glasses of water out for them to drink from? Our cats can be relentless when it comes to dinnertime as well. They will sing us the song of their people for about 30 minutes before to remind us that in 30 minutes, we have to give them dinner, and the volume of their song gets louder the closer we get to mealtime. We haven't furgotten to feed them once in the entire 12 years we've had them, but is that because of their screaming, or is it because we're good pawrents? The world will never know.

Cats love to boss us around with their screams. They don't like you sitting in their spot: scream until you get up. They are tired and want you to come to bed with them: scream until you get off the couch and get ready for bed. It must be purrfectly cathartic (and effective) to scream so much, which is why we're adopting their meowthed of solving problems: we're going to scream whenever we need something done today.

Meowndays are the hardest day of the week, and thus, they deserve a scream (or 50). We advise you to try it as well, and see if it helped you get through the first day of the week with more ease. To inspire you, scroll down and enjoy these feisty feline funnies that will help you find your inner cattitude and your screaming voice. May the odds be ever in your favor.

When you see red flags in how people treat your cats, do not ignore them.

We would like to think that we, as cat owners, have a very good eye for people who we want around our cats and people who we really don't want around them. You can tell very quickly who understands cats and who doesn't. It's in the way they move, the way they approach a cat, the way they talk about cats. There are people who will baby-talk at your cat behind your back to try to get the cat to like them, and then, there are people who will neglect your cat when they are supposed to be taking care of it when you're away.

People who mistreat cats are the worst kind in our opinion. Cats are innocent. Indoor cats are also clueless and would have no chance of surviving outside on their own. And senior cats, who have been housecats their entire lives, who trust humans and believe that we have their best interests at heart, they are the most innocent. Someone who is willing to hurt a cat like that is someone who should never ever be around cats in their whole lives.

Caffeine is the only thing standing between consciousness and chaos.

It's Monday, which means functioning requires caffeine and a small amount of emotional support. These cats look like they're running on the same fragile system as the rest of us. Eyes half open, faces blank, hovering near mugs like they're waiting for permission to wake up. The day started too early and everyone knows it.

Some of them sit beside coffee cups with the intensity of creatures who understand the stakes. A paw rests near the mug like it's guarding the last source of hope. Others stare straight ahead with the distant expression of someone waiting for their brain to reconnect. They aren't drinking the coffee, but spiritually they're depending on it.

The mood is universal. Monday doesn't begin until the caffeine hits, and these cats look personally invested in that process. They carry the exact energy of a human standing in the kitchen, holding a cup with both hands, waiting to become a person again. Every whisker says patience is running thin.

Eventually the room settles into that quiet moment where the first sip does its work. The cat loafs beside the mug like a tiny coworker who survived the morning shift. Nobody's cheerful yet, but the lights are back on. It's enough to get through the day.

If cuteness was a competition, the Kitten Bowl would have won by a landslide.

Many of you probably tuned in to Super Bowl Sunday yesterday, but we only had one thing on our brains: the Kitten Bowl. This year, the Kitten Bowl was a part of the "Great American Rescue Bowl", a program that was dedicated to pet adoption and animal shelters. Our hostess with the mostest was none other than Beth Stern, a purrfectly outspoken animal advocate and TV purrsonality, who commented on all of our criminally small "players" this year with a hissterical and pawsitive attitude.

Another weekend is about to end with a dose of Twitter purrfection.

Listen, there is not much that we ask for on a Sunday morning. We don't ask for anything grandiose. All we want is to start the morning on the right paw, with a smile, a laugh, a little calmness. The workweek is intense. Every day, something different happens to stress us out. Sunday is for chilling. Sunday is for catching up on all the good vibes that we need to get through the new week as sane as we can. Sunday is also known as Funday. And on Funday, we need some purrfect cat memes

No place doesn't hilarious cat memes quite as pawfectly as Twitter does. That is what we have learned over out time making this segment. Every single week, we look for all the viral cat tweets that we can, searching through every corner of X in search of these little gems that people can't stop sharing. And then, we put them all right here for you. Because surrounding these gems, there is drama, there is insanity, there are a whole lot of things that we don't want to see first thing on Sunday morning. But this - these gems are what we are here for, and they are about to make you smile.

Bad days feel irreversible until you experience a little meowgic.

Cats have a magical touch when it comes to us hoomans. Certain that they'll be cherished, petted, and fed the good canned food, cats approach their human companions with a certain air of supurriority and grace that we lowly servants cannot resist. Charmed by their bewitching ways, cats remind us regularly of their whimsical, mysterious ways. With every enchanting meow and each biscuit made, kitties curl up like a cinnamon roll in our soul, warming our whiskers with their delightfully cute demeanor.

He showed up starving and joined the household crew.

George showed up starving and terrified back in September. He clearly hadn't had an easy stretch and was hanging around the house. He was trapped in November, neutered, and released, and for a while he kept his distance. Then something flipped. A few weeks later he started headbutting hands and asking for pets, which felt like a door opening. By Christmas he was inside. A recent vet visit revealed he's FIV positive and needs dental work, but after a lot of research and long conversations, the decision was simple. He's staying.

Now, the house introductions are underway. George has no problem staying upstairs and is slowly meeting the resident crew. Asa, the elderly chihuahua, treats him like he's always been there. She's partly blind and just happy to smell a familiar scent, and George hisses a little but respects the space she gives him. Sage, the younger cat, adjusted almost instantly. They share space calmly, ignoring each other in the peaceful way animals do when they've agreed on a truce. Jojo and Basil are still in the sniff-through-the-door phase, but George stays submissive and gentle, avoiding conflict and answering hisses with slow blinks.

His only crimes so far are food theft attempts and a dramatic hatred of litter mats. Otherwise he's a toy-chasing, zoomie-powered shadow who follows his humans everywhere. He isn't a full cuddle bug yet, but the trust is growing. For a cat who arrived scared and starving, George has already come a long way, and the house is clearly making room for him.

Timing is everything, and when fate hands you the neighborhood cat merely two weeks after your elderly cat passes, it can feel like a symbol from heaven.

Things feel fated when they feel predetermined, when they feel serendipitous and also right. When it feels like there's something symbolic you can understand from the universe, fate can work in mysterious ways. In the story below, this white and black neighborhood cat has been wandering around for a few months. Three different families were feeding him, but one in particular really wanted to adopt him. The caveat was that the family already had an elderly cat who wouldn't take the new cat's presence very welcoming. But fate had something else in mind. The elderly cat passed over the rainbow bridge, and in just two weeks, the stray came knocking on their door, politely asking to come in.

They immediately took him to the vet, dropped $400 on him, and called him Kevin. It's incredible how life works out, and how the cat distribution system works in mysterious ways. Fate has fascinated people for centuries, and in this story you can really see its symbolism. At its core, fate suggests that certain events in life are predetermined, guided by forces beyond our control. It can be comforting to think that there is an order to the chaos, that the twists and turns of life follow some invisible plan, even if we can't see it.

Many culture have their own interpretations of fate. In Greek mythology, the Moirai (aka Fates) spun, measured, and cut the threads of human lives, determining their destiny from birth. If you watched the Disney movie Hercules growing up then you might remember these three elderly, eyeless women cutting threads for souls to slip into the underworld. Eastern Philosophies often frame fate in terms of karma or cosmic balance, where actions and consequences shape outcomes. Even in modern life, people frequently articulate fateful encounters or destine moments, pointing to the mysterious sense that some experiences are meant to happen. And in the story here, it feels crystal clear that the cat was meant to be theirs.

Here thee, there thee, your royal highness, thoust been blessed with princely cat memes.

Cats really do give an air of royalty. They sit on their thrones looking down on their kingdom below. They have an air of pretentiousness, pride, and "I'm better than you," cattitude. Princesses and princes have long occupied a main source of folktales through the ages. They wear crowns, live in castles, and sometimes go through a transformation. Across fairytales, folklore, and stories, royalty is a symbol of power, struggle, and identity. Traditionally, princesses were portrayed as gentle, demure, beautiful, and passive. Maybe even portrayed as wistfully gazing out of a high window in a tall tower, awaiting something more. And is your cat not unlike the wistful princess, dotingly wishing they could play outside with the birds and run around green grasses? These roles reflected values of the times, but they don't have to be any more. And a prince was brave, decisive, and heroic, saving a princess who's locked in a tower. Is your cat not unlike a brave prince, saving you everyday from succumbing to life's constant suffering?

What makes princesses and princes so interesting is their ability to bridge the gap between something ethereal and earthly. They're lavished and rich, but also bereft and forced to go on their own journey. They're endowed with a burden that requires sacrifice, wisdom, and empathy. And just like your cat, they're here to make our lives more interesting, to pass the time from monotonous day to monotonous day. So enjoy these purrfect princes and prinesses in cats.

Such is the cat sass - take it or leave it.

And that sums up the cat way of life pretty smoothly. All cats, introverted or extroverted, cuddly cats or zoomie expurrts, come with a healthy amount of cat sass. It's hard to explain what it is with words alone, but we're going to try our best:

The cat sass is the way they enter a room with their tail perked up, like a confident antenna, and the aura that they own the place (whether that's true or not). The cat sass is the way they promptly sit on your lap like they conquered your personal space, and now you're obliged to give them sweet scritches. The cat sass is the ekekek they'll do, as dumb as it is, when they see a bird out of the window, because no one sent them the memo that this is not how you call birds over (but they'll still try). The cat sass is the cat confidence we all wish for ourselves.

And Sunday is the best day for all cat lovers to embrace that sass. You've rested and relaxed on Caturday, so Sunday is totally the sass time - cat style.

We may still have a few days before V-Day, but it's never too early to tell your crush that you love them as much as you love cats (and that's a lot).

We love cats. We love cats more than 99.9% of the things in this world… except you (don't tell our cats we said that). But Valentine's Day is the one day of the year when we get the opportunity to prioritize our hooman loves over our feline ones, so we might as well make the most of it. And in our humble opinion, it's never too early to start saying "I love you, I respect you, and I choose you."

Everyone appreciates being told that they look beautiful, that you're thinking about them, or that you appreciate them. So, even though we still have a few days until the big V-Day, it's never too early to warm up your crush's (or your purrtner's) heart with a little romance before the day of love arrives. In fact, it might make Valentine's Day even better because you've reminded them how special they are to you.

We shouldn't need an excuse to make our special someone feel ameowzing, but days like VDay remind us to if we've let that part of our relationship get a little lazy. It's okay if it has, it happens. Life happens. Busy work periods, kids, soccer games, and whatever else that comes up often gets in the way. Valentine's Day reminds us to quiet all that other stuff and put our purrtner first.

Now, what is the ultimate way for a cat lover to tell their purrson that they love them the most they pawssibly can? By telling them that they love them more than cats. They know that we (and you) love cats more than anything in the universe, so if you love them more than cats, there's no going up from there. Seriously, don't tell our cats that we said any of this, they think they are the center of our universe, and if they found out they weren't, they would be devastated.

And what is our generation's way of communicating? Through memes! So below you'll find some of the most romantic memes to send to your cat-loving crush to warm up their spirit before Valentine's Day. They're purrfectly silly and the ultimate "I love you" from one feline fanatic to another.

Be nice to one cat, and you may end up getting a two-for-one deal.

People always talk about how aloof cats are, how uncaring, how they don't need us and only tolerate us because we give them food. These people don't get it. These people have never had a cat love them. We, as people who have and do, know what cats are really like. We know that cats love humans. They're simply picky about who they give their love to. And that, we think, is fair. You need to be kind to a cat for a cat to love you. If you think all cats are aloof, then you most likely don't treat them with the kindness that they deserve, and they don't give it back to you. Vicious cycle, really. But all you need to break it is one act of kindness.

This person fed a stray kitty once, and she immediately started coming back. She felt the kindness right away. And then, the person kept feeding her and feeding her, showing her kindness over and over, and eventually, the kitty decided to bless the human by deciding to adopt the human. Oh, and she brought her baby too.

If there is one thing that everyone knows, it is that cats rule the internet.

This is something that has forever been true and will forever continue to be true. We don't think that there is a single person who could argue with that. Since the beginning, cats have had a hold on the users of the internet like nothing else. It does not matter what is going on in the world. Cat memes will always be created and shared and loved. Things around us could literally be on fire, but log onto any social media platform, and among all the craziness, funny cat memes will prevail.

We need these silly cat memes. We need them for our souls. We need them the most when these crazy things happen. They are the purrfect distraction. They make us smile every time, without exception, even over the silliest meme. Cats rule the internet, everyone knows it, and really, everyone is thankful for it, whether they say it explicitly like we do or not. Honestly, us making memes like these is our way of saying thank you to cats for ruling the internet and our hearts. It is our way of showing them the appreciation that they deserve as our mighty rulers.

Kickoff hasn't even happened yet, and the cats have already claimed the couch.

Super Bowl Sunday isn't just about touchdowns and snacks. It's kickoff for the Kitty Bowl. While hoomans yell at the screen, cats take over the stadium, also known as the couch. Some plant themselves directly in front of the TV like defensive linemen, eyes glued to the moving ball and ready to launch a full-body tackle. Others treat the remote like a loose fumble, swatting it off the table and calling the play themselves. There is no replay review. The call stands.

The pregame show is just as important. Cats stretch, pace, and warm up like athletes preparing for competition. One tests the snack perimeter. Another claims the softest blanket and refuses to vacate. When guests arrive, they are inspected like new recruits entering the roster.

Halftime belongs to the cats. Blankets turn into goal lines. Laps become premium seating. A loafed cat settles in like a champion holding possession, completely unwilling to surrender the field. They might not understand football, but they understand territory. Every bag of chips triggers an instant blitz, and any unattended chicken becomes a high-risk Hail Mary situation.

By the fourth quarter, the scoreboard barely matters. The real highlight reel is the cat who stole someone's seat, walked across the screen during a big play, and supervised every snack like head coach of quality control. Super Bowl Sunday turns into a shared event where the cats run the game clock and everyone else just tries to keep up.

When we discover more cats to love - we want to pawtect them at all costs.

Especially since this specific cat is very much endangered, but it's not the whole point. We're sure that as fellow feline fans you can understand - the more cats there are, the more joyous the world is. We're not talking about poor strays looking for a home - that is always dealt with, with wisdom and compassion, by the Cat Distribution System and the kind people assigned to the cats in need.

We're talking about more types of cats that Mother Nature is providing us in this world. The feline world is a varied and meowgnificent one. It's not only lions, tigers, and the domestic shorthair (that we love endlessly, of course). When you expand your lens through which you look at wildlife, you discover a whole wide world of nature's beauty. Wild cats are abundant, and as true cat lovers, we should make sure to spread our feline love even to the hidden and mysterious places where cats roam.

And such is the Iriomote cat - they exist only on a single island in Japan, and their population isn't large. But since learning about them, from all the information presented below, they took a big chunk of our hearts, tiny as they are.

If there's one thing that will bring a community together, it's the unjust firing of a local shop cat.

Shop cats make every shop better, it's a fact. If you don't agree with that statement, the door is that way. We, and most other cat lovers, will go out of our way to shop at a place where they take care of a cat, whether it's a bodega or a flower shop. It's a win-win scenario for everyone: the cat gets a safe place to call home, lots of treats and attention from awww-ing hoomans, and the shop gets free pest control and a loyal customer base of cat people.

The best places will even make them official employees, getting them their own vest, identity card, and even a picture on the wall to secure their employed status. That's what happened in this Lowes, where 'Mama Cat' became a legend. She became very popular on social media and with the customers, even making a guest appearance on the local news. But, shortly after her rise to TV stardom, a Karen complained, Lowes corporate decided to have Mama Cat fired.

Well, if there's one thing that feline fanatics won't stand for, it's injustice done to cats. Mama Cat did nothing wrong, and everyone clearly felt like this was the work of one ornery purrson, so they banded together to get the cat rehired. After five years of purrfect service, she deserved at least that. Mama Cat ended up being taken home by an employee, who had a special connection with Mama Cat. They said, "the cat slept like a baby on his couch and even cuddled up with his other cat". So, she may not have gotten rehired, but she's in a purrfectly comfortable retirement, which is honestly even better.

It's not always the bad things that make communities stronger, but sometimes, the happy ones. We're happy Mama Cat had a happy ending, and we hope she enjoys her pawsitively enjoyable time at home and gets just as many pets as before.

A lazy Saturday for a cat is just business as usual.

Caturday exists for one reason, and cats understand it better than anyone. While humans talk about slowing down and recharging, cats actually commit to the lifestyle. A lazy Caturday is not a suggestion to them. It's a full-time philosophy. From the first stretch of the morning to the final dramatic flop onto a soft surface, they approach rest with unmatched professionalism.

The day usually begins with a ceremonial relocation from one sleeping spot to a slightly sunnier sleeping spot. Once positioned, a cat settles in like a tiny monarch overseeing a kingdom of blankets and quiet. The occasional slow blink acknowledges your presence, but make no mistake, this is their day. You're just lucky to witness it.

Hours pass in a rhythm of naps, half-naps, and thoughtful staring into space. Sometimes a paw twitches. Sometimes a tail flick reminds the room that a predator still lives here, even if it hasn't moved in forty minutes. Every stretch looks like a yoga pose perfected over centuries.

They take this job seriously. There's no half-effort lounging. Every nap is committed. Every stretch is theatrical. They rotate positions like seasoned professionals making sure no side of the body is underappreciated. By the end of the day they've accomplished absolutely nothing, yet somehow look like they worked a full shift. Nobody performs the art of doing nothing quite this well like cats do.

She went from stray to scheduled pickup.

For almost two years, a little stray named Oreo lived in a bush outside a workplace in Georgia while one employee showed up every day with food and patience. At first she treated him like a suspicious stranger. Then one day she tapped the tip of a sneaker with her face, as if signing a tiny contract. After that she started waiting by the door at the same time every day. Meals became appointments. Lately she'd trot after her human when it was time to go, clearly filing a complaint about early closing hours.

Somewhere along the way it stopped being a feeding schedule and turned into a relationship. Oreo wasn't just accepting food. She was clocking in to see her person. Leaving her outside started to feel wrong in a way that was hard to ignore. Highways, storms, and long nights don't mix well with a cat who has decided she belongs to someone.

After a lot of thinking, the conclusion became hard to argue with. Oreo is going home. The bond has been there for years, built in slow steps and quiet meetings by the door. Bringing her inside isn't a sudden rescue story. It's the next part in their relationship. The cat made her choice early and the human finally caught up.

These asymmetrical markings on tortoise cats never looked cuter, despite being snow-covered.

Finding a cat buried in snow and covered in ice is horrifying. No one wants to stumble upon a trapped cat, meowing and desperate for release. In the story here, a family found this little 4-week-old tortoise cat trapped with her fur stuck to a hun of metal. She was freezing and cold and meowing for a savior. They took her in and immediately gave her a warm home. They took her to the vet and she's actually quite healthy; she slept with their daughter under the covers to stay warm. The story is an update about the cat being stuck, and one that's heart wrenching.

A tortoise cat, similar to calico, are almost always female. Their markings are asymmetrical, and usually consist of particolored coats with patches of shades, such as orange, red, grey, black, and white. The size varies based on their genetics. Usually they mix two different colors, and resemble a tortoise-like pattern on their fur. Tortoiseshell and calico coats result from an interaction between genetic and developmental factors. They're so interesting and beautiful to look at. Besides their beautiful phenotypic pattern on their fur, they also have unique personalities. Personally known as "tortitude," often denoted as sassy, independent, spirited, and sometimes feisty. They're known to be vocal and intense as well. If you're looking to get a cat, then a tortoise cat should be up your alley. They're also considered lucky charms in many cultures.
