Kickoff hasn't even happened yet, and the cats have already claimed the couch.

Super Bowl Sunday isn't just about touchdowns and snacks. It's kickoff for the Kitty Bowl. While hoomans yell at the screen, cats take over the stadium, also known as the couch. Some plant themselves directly in front of the TV like defensive linemen, eyes glued to the moving ball and ready to launch a full-body tackle. Others treat the remote like a loose fumble, swatting it off the table and calling the play themselves. There is no replay review. The call stands.

The pregame show is just as important. Cats stretch, pace, and warm up like athletes preparing for competition. One tests the snack perimeter. Another claims the softest blanket and refuses to vacate. When guests arrive, they are inspected like new recruits entering the roster.

Halftime belongs to the cats. Blankets turn into goal lines. Laps become premium seating. A loafed cat settles in like a champion holding possession, completely unwilling to surrender the field. They might not understand football, but they understand territory. Every bag of chips triggers an instant blitz, and any unattended chicken becomes a high-risk Hail Mary situation.

By the fourth quarter, the scoreboard barely matters. The real highlight reel is the cat who stole someone's seat, walked across the screen during a big play, and supervised every snack like head coach of quality control. Super Bowl Sunday turns into a shared event where the cats run the game clock and everyone else just tries to keep up.

When we discover more cats to love - we want to pawtect them at all costs.

Especially since this specific cat is very much endangered, but it's not the whole point. We're sure that as fellow feline fans you can understand - the more cats there are, the more joyous the world is. We're not talking about poor strays looking for a home - that is always dealt with, with wisdom and compassion, by the Cat Distribution System and the kind people assigned to the cats in need.

We're talking about more types of cats that Mother Nature is providing us in this world. The feline world is a varied and meowgnificent one. It's not only lions, tigers, and the domestic shorthair (that we love endlessly, of course). When you expand your lens through which you look at wildlife, you discover a whole wide world of nature's beauty. Wild cats are abundant, and as true cat lovers, we should make sure to spread our feline love even to the hidden and mysterious places where cats roam.

And such is the Iriomote cat - they exist only on a single island in Japan, and their population isn't large. But since learning about them, from all the information presented below, they took a big chunk of our hearts, tiny as they are.

If there's one thing that will bring a community together, it's the unjust firing of a local shop cat.

Shop cats make every shop better, it's a fact. If you don't agree with that statement, the door is that way. We, and most other cat lovers, will go out of our way to shop at a place where they take care of a cat, whether it's a bodega or a flower shop. It's a win-win scenario for everyone: the cat gets a safe place to call home, lots of treats and attention from awww-ing hoomans, and the shop gets free pest control and a loyal customer base of cat people.

The best places will even make them official employees, getting them their own vest, identity card, and even a picture on the wall to secure their employed status. That's what happened in this Lowes, where 'Mama Cat' became a legend. She became very popular on social media and with the customers, even making a guest appearance on the local news. But, shortly after her rise to TV stardom, a Karen complained, Lowes corporate decided to have Mama Cat fired.

Well, if there's one thing that feline fanatics won't stand for, it's injustice done to cats. Mama Cat did nothing wrong, and everyone clearly felt like this was the work of one ornery purrson, so they banded together to get the cat rehired. After five years of purrfect service, she deserved at least that. Mama Cat ended up being taken home by an employee, who had a special connection with Mama Cat. They said, "the cat slept like a baby on his couch and even cuddled up with his other cat". So, she may not have gotten rehired, but she's in a purrfectly comfortable retirement, which is honestly even better.

It's not always the bad things that make communities stronger, but sometimes, the happy ones. We're happy Mama Cat had a happy ending, and we hope she enjoys her pawsitively enjoyable time at home and gets just as many pets as before.

A lazy Saturday for a cat is just business as usual.

Caturday exists for one reason, and cats understand it better than anyone. While humans talk about slowing down and recharging, cats actually commit to the lifestyle. A lazy Caturday is not a suggestion to them. It's a full-time philosophy. From the first stretch of the morning to the final dramatic flop onto a soft surface, they approach rest with unmatched professionalism.

The day usually begins with a ceremonial relocation from one sleeping spot to a slightly sunnier sleeping spot. Once positioned, a cat settles in like a tiny monarch overseeing a kingdom of blankets and quiet. The occasional slow blink acknowledges your presence, but make no mistake, this is their day. You're just lucky to witness it.

Hours pass in a rhythm of naps, half-naps, and thoughtful staring into space. Sometimes a paw twitches. Sometimes a tail flick reminds the room that a predator still lives here, even if it hasn't moved in forty minutes. Every stretch looks like a yoga pose perfected over centuries.

They take this job seriously. There's no half-effort lounging. Every nap is committed. Every stretch is theatrical. They rotate positions like seasoned professionals making sure no side of the body is underappreciated. By the end of the day they've accomplished absolutely nothing, yet somehow look like they worked a full shift. Nobody performs the art of doing nothing quite this well like cats do.

She went from stray to scheduled pickup.

For almost two years, a little stray named Oreo lived in a bush outside a workplace in Georgia while one employee showed up every day with food and patience. At first she treated him like a suspicious stranger. Then one day she tapped the tip of a sneaker with her face, as if signing a tiny contract. After that she started waiting by the door at the same time every day. Meals became appointments. Lately she'd trot after her human when it was time to go, clearly filing a complaint about early closing hours.

Somewhere along the way it stopped being a feeding schedule and turned into a relationship. Oreo wasn't just accepting food. She was clocking in to see her person. Leaving her outside started to feel wrong in a way that was hard to ignore. Highways, storms, and long nights don't mix well with a cat who has decided she belongs to someone.

After a lot of thinking, the conclusion became hard to argue with. Oreo is going home. The bond has been there for years, built in slow steps and quiet meetings by the door. Bringing her inside isn't a sudden rescue story. It's the next part in their relationship. The cat made her choice early and the human finally caught up.

These asymmetrical markings on tortoise cats never looked cuter, despite being snow-covered.

Finding a cat buried in snow and covered in ice is horrifying. No one wants to stumble upon a trapped cat, meowing and desperate for release. In the story here, a family found this little 4-week-old tortoise cat trapped with her fur stuck to a hun of metal. She was freezing and cold and meowing for a savior. They took her in and immediately gave her a warm home. They took her to the vet and she's actually quite healthy; she slept with their daughter under the covers to stay warm. The story is an update about the cat being stuck, and one that's heart wrenching.

A tortoise cat, similar to calico, are almost always female. Their markings are asymmetrical, and usually consist of particolored coats with patches of shades, such as orange, red, grey, black, and white. The size varies based on their genetics. Usually they mix two different colors, and resemble a tortoise-like pattern on their fur. Tortoiseshell and calico coats result from an interaction between genetic and developmental factors. They're so interesting and beautiful to look at. Besides their beautiful phenotypic pattern on their fur, they also have unique personalities. Personally known as "tortitude," often denoted as sassy, independent, spirited, and sometimes feisty. They're known to be vocal and intense as well. If you're looking to get a cat, then a tortoise cat should be up your alley. They're also considered lucky charms in many cultures.

Scrolling may seem like a waste of time on the surface, but it's actually releasing dopamine in our brains! So happily scroll away.

Everyone likes to scroll. No matter who you are or what you do, you have something you scroll. A guilty pleasure of old high school photos, reels on Instagram, or something else. Everyone has their thing, and it's easy to spend time doing it. We used to wait in a doctor's office just staring into space or twiddling our thumbs. Nowadays, we go to our phones. So many of us wake up with the feeling that we want to scroll, and it's the first thing we do in the morning. If we can't sleep, we scroll. If we're waiting for something, we scroll, or if we feel awkward and need to escape into our own world somehow, we scroll.

Scrolling cat memes doesn't have to be a guilty pleasure – no guilt is needed when you're admiring little, cute kitties and wishing they were curled up in your lap. The thing about cats is that they're simultaneously adorable, hilarious, and chaotic. They balance sweet and malicious better than any other animal out there. Who else could be chaotic meowing zoomies at 4 am, and then a few hours later resemble a cozy, bundled angel in a blanket when you actually wake up in the morning? It sometimes seems impossible that our cats are this didactic and split, but they really are. So if you're spending your weekend in bed, resting, and scrolling cat memes, just know that you're not alone.

This story serves as a reminder to keep your distance from cats in the pet store, lest they attach themselves to you making it physically impossible for you to leave the store without committing theft.

It is a seriously impressive trick that you simply cannot see coming. We can only imagine that some cats throughout the years picked up on the concept that some prickly plants use to spread their seeds whereby they attach themselves to animals passing by and hop off somewhere else. And it is a genius way of making moves and as a kitten who just wants to get the heck out of a pet store it is super effective. All you need is to latch on to a passing hooman, throw them a few tiny and cute meows while flashing their sweet sparkly eyes and the rest is history.

The lucky thing for our hooman protagonist in this story is that they were sort of in the market for a cat anyway and so this kitten's clever tactic was received rather well to the point that you could very well argue that this had something to do with the Cat Distribution System. But that is a debate for another time, for now enjoy this tale of bravery, feline brilliance and wholesome adoption.

Weekends with cats have a rhythm all their own.

There's no alarm clock shock, no rushing out the door - just the soft weight of a cat deciding your chest is the best possible place to nap. Your plans slow down the moment they do, and honestly, that's part of the magic. Cats seem to understand that weekends are for resting, stretching like a rubber band, and being silly for no particular reason.

Cats bring joy in the smallest, most unexpected ways. A lazy roll in a sunbeam, a sudden burst of zoomies that turns the hallway into a racetrack. The way they supervise every activity, from making coffee to folding laundry, as if it's all very important cat business. Even doing nothing feels better when there's a purring companion nearby, reminding you that it's okay to just exist for a while.

Cats also have a special talent for turning ordinary moments into something memorable. A cardboard box becomes a throne, a blanket becomes a fortress, a quiet afternoon becomes an excuse for extra cuddles and slow blinks. Cats' antics are endlessly entertaining, but it's their presence that really fills the weekend with warmth.

Spending your days with a cat means laughter comes easily and stress fades faster. It's a needed reminder that joy doesn't have to be loud or complicated - sometimes it's just whiskers, paws, and a purrfectly lazy weekend at home.

Caturday is special. But why? We're here to answer that.

When Caturday is upon us, it seems like our feed is a little different than other days. We think we see it as a little cozier, a little sillier, and definitely more wholesome. But why is it like that? Well, that's the magic of the mere Saturday that turns into a fully feline blown Caturday. The magic of Caturday is hard to explain, like many things regarding the meowsterious creatures we call "cats" (like, try to even explain the Cat Distribution System to a non-cat person…)

But we're I Can Has Cheezburger, and we love everything about cats. The cats themselves, obviously, but also the online cat community, the cat people who share this feline fandom, and literally everything about cats. So we're here to talk about the impurrtance of Caturdays, and try to explain why it's so important.

"Show us the last cat picture on your phone. No cheating!"

It's safe to say that 99% of all cat owners have more pictures of their cats on their phones than they do of themselves. It's just a natural part of being a feline pawrent. You snap a quick pic of them while they're sleeping in an awwdorably silly position, when they're in the middle of a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig stretch, when they're playing with something, when they're upset that you sneezed from the other room… the list goes on and on. Most of them end up being blurry or not as cute as you thought they would be, but you still can't make yourself delete them.

On the other hand, we all have a saved folder of our furvorite pics of our fluffy felines. You know the ones we're talking about - the ones where they look like the supermeowdel they are. When the light hits them just right or when they're looking purrfectly at the camera, we call these their "Tinder pics" because if they had a Tinder account, these would be the ones they would use.

What's the ratio of the average cat purrtrait to a "Tinder pic"? It really depends on your cat and your photography skills, but we'd say about 1 in 30. That means that for every one good picture you get of your cat's peak cuteness, you have about 29 unsuccessful ones that you don't really need but can't get rid of.

That's why this prompt above is always so purrfectly entertaining. Seeing what every pawrents' last picture of their cat in their camera roll is tells you a lot about the cat and their owner. Sometimes they're silly, sometimes they're pawsitively unrecognizable, and every once in a while, you get a meowrvelous gem of a feline purrtrait.

Love affects us all in profound ways, but it's always the clearest on a cat - you can always tell when a cat is loved and cared for by its fur.

Before and after adoption photos are one of our few remaining joys in our lives that haven't changed in years. Why haven't they changed? Because you can't improve on purrfection. There's something in the simplicity of seeing the transformation of a cat that just got rescued from the street to months after being adopted that heals our souls. Their fur is healthier. Their coat clearer. Their eyes brighter. Even their posture changes. Cats' appearances change dramatically when they experience love and safety, and that's exactly what we're showing you below.

Meet his meowjesty Sus, who is now applying to be the next supermeowdel of the world. We think he deserves it, don't you?

Another purrfect Caturday is here, and as always, we are going to start it on the right paw!

Honestly, starting Caturday on the right paw is not that difficult if you're looking in the right places. And since you are here right meow, then you are in the right place indeed. Cat people are not difficult to please on Caturday. Truly, we don't ask for a lot. All we need is a little extra time to nap, a couple more snacks in our cupboard, some cuddle time with our kitties, and of course, some pawsome cat content. Unfortunately, we cannot help you with the first three, but cat content is something that we have in spades. And on Caturday, we put together all of the best cat content of the week in one purrfect meowgazine

In this meowgazine, we bring you only the best of the best - the funniest cat memes of the week, the wholesomest cat stories people loved sharing, and the most purrfect cat tweets that went viral on X. Everything in one place first thing in the morning. For a purrfect Caturday, we do not think that you need all that much more. We wish you all a pawmazing day, and we will see you all here next week for more cat goodness!

Somehow, Maine Coons turn from adorable kittens to the coolest cats you have ever seen.

We love all cats. We think that is pretty clear by now. With that said, we do have a soft spot for some kitties. Cats who are perpetually small, staying kitten-sized for the rest of their lives, have a special place in our hearts. And cats who grow really, really big, roaming around our houses like little lions, ruling our households with an iron paw, there's a special corner in our hearts for them too. Something about the extremes - the smallest and the biggest.

There are a couple breeds that can grow extra large in cats. The most well-known are probably Siberian cats, who are fluffy, majestic and huge. Norwegian Forest cats, who have had a hold on our hearts since the days of the Vikings when they were given as gifts to newlywed brides. But the most well-known is probably the Maine Coon cat. Maybe because they are the biggest cats that you can have domestically. Maybe because they are just… pawdorable. Or maybe it's because when you see a picture of a Maine Coon kitten, you simply cannot understand how they go from that to the beautiful beast that they become when they are older.

When the purrfect cat memes are so pawesome that you start making cat puns in every sentence you write…

If that sentence was slightly illegible, my apawlogies. Cat puns are second nature to the writers here at I Can Has Cheezburger, and if you're reading this, you're probably well-versed in our special little language, too. Is the sun shining where you are? Or, have the overcast clouds come back with a vengeance after a long string of winter weather that makes even the most outdoorsy cats crawl inside where it's toasty and warm?

Cats are usually the first ones to try to bolt out the door when someone walks in, but now, they refuse even to try. They might think about it, step outside momentarily, and bolt back inside. The only evidence you see is one little paw print in the snow, where it will remain until the next snowfall.

Though our cats have the luxury of sitting on the floor with all four paws in warm, cozy living rooms, we hoomans do not have the same luxury. We have to go outside, work for a living, and bring home the bacon (or rather, the Churus). We wouldn't want it any other way, though. Scroll below to warm your cheeks and your heart with some sweetly pawesome feline funnies.

Stealing is a favorite activity for many sneaky cats, and we want to know what your cat's favorite thing to steal from you is.

Our two little cats each have a favorite item to steal from around the house. Our big, chubby orange boy loves to steal plastic spoons, Q-tips, and random tissue papers, which are all pretty mild things. He will play with them for a while until he has enough, which is why our floor is littered with random papers and plastic utensils that have become his toys.

Our tiny calico, on the other hand, loves to steal food. If there is any type of food left unattended on the kitchen counter, or even on our plates, she will make a grab for it, and most of the time, she will succeed in taking it. The funny thing is, she is almost never interested in eating it; she just likes the challenge of taking something she knows she's not supposed to touch. And she loves it even more when we run around the house after her, in an attempt to keep her from hiding random pieces of food where we won't be able reach them.

We love our naughty little babies, even if they love to give us a hard time.

We know that the art of stealing is appealing to most cats, not just ours, which leaves us wondering what kinds of crimes are happening in other feline owners' homes. Do other cats enjoy taking their owners' shoes, or maybe hair ties? Are there any cats out there who are particularly interested in their owners' home decor? And how many cats feel the need to steal a sip of water out of their pawrents' filled glasses just for the heck of it?

There is no way of knowing without asking these important questions, which is why we are bringing it up here. Please let us know in the comments below what is the funniest thing your fiesty feline ever stole from you. And in return for your hissterical stories, enjoy the collection of silly cat memes that you get to scroll through on your way to the comments.

There's cute, there's extremely cute, and then there are kitten toe beans rewriting the cuteness cale entirely.

Kitten toe beans are one of nature's smallest and most powerful sources of joy. They are impossibly tiny, perfectly pink or speckled like little jellybeans, and attached to a creature that has absolutely no idea how cute it is. A kitten will stomp across your chest at 3 a.m. with those microscopic paws, and instead of being annoyed, you just lie there thinking about how lucky you are to be stepped on by softness.

Each bean is a masterpiece of design. They squish gently against blankets, keyboards, and unsuspecting faces, leaving behind no damage except emotional devastation from excessive cuteness. When kittens stretch their paws in their sleep and the beans fan open like a tiny flower, time briefly stops. Productivity ends. Responsibilities vanish. There is only bean.

The best part is how kittens treat their own feet like surprise accessories. They'll grab their paws mid-play, stare at them like, "Oh. These are mine?" and immediately try to chew them. Watching a kitten discover its toe beans feels like witnessing a scientific breakthrough, except the research subject is round, fluffy, and falls over mid-experiment.

Toe beans are proof that the universe occasionally shows off. They serve no purpose other than making humans melt on sight. Tiny cushions carrying even tinier chaos machines, they march through the world leaving trails of smiles.

"Thank cat it's Friday" isn't just a common phrase, it's a transcendence of peace into weekend you've always wanted.

Everyone looks forward to the weekend. Even if you're someone who loves your job, there's nothing like that break from the monotony and daily responsibilities that can make us feel like we're stuck in the rat race. The weekend allows us to have all sorts of plans that have nothing to do with working at our job, but still be productive. It's our me time, and that's sacred in and of itself. It's less about religion, and more of a symbol of gratitude. A moment of acknowledgement that makes the week feel worth it. There's a feeling of pause and permission. Culturally, it's a sense of togetherness and reward. It's tied to after-work drinks, casual dinners, movie nights, celebrations, and the feeling that something enjoyable is coming soon.

In Dante Alighieri's Paradiso, Dante travels from planet to planet in a poetic exploration of divine love. How does it relate to happy and snuggly cats? Well, like Dante's in euphoric ecstasy at witnessing divine illumination, so are these cats while they drift off to dreamland. Paradiso is a transcendence to divine harmony. Led by Beatrice, his true love in his real life, she embodies the bridge between worldly flesh and heavenly spheres. He's already gone through a journey so arduous from the Inferno and Purgatory, and he's finally gifted the prize of eternal illumination. From suffering to purification, his journey to divine harmony is akin to these cats sleeping cuddly. He ascends through the celestial spheres, each representing different virtues and levels of blessedness.

So this weekend sit back, relax, read Dante's Paradiso, and scroll hilarious, adorable, and classic cat memes giving so much happy and wholesome vibes. Snuggle up to your cat, boo, boyfriend, or robot under the covers on a cold evening. Enjoy the endless and ephemeral wonders of technology. Appreciate that we don't live in Medieval Italy where the Guelphs and Ghibellines are at war, having to choose a side, and suffering in exile while the rest of Florence exists without you.

Chicken nuggets would win anyone over.

Food is something that holds an emotional place for people. It's not about energy or sustenance, as much as it's about an emotional gravity to cooking, eating, and meal time. Even with little kids it's used as a reward system. You get a lollypop at the doctor's, or an ice cream cone when you have a bad day. Your parents make you your favorite meal on your birthday, and reward you with food when you do a good job. It's no surprise that in the story below, a cat was won over with some chicken nuggets.

The cat has been loitering around a certain house for some time. The woman who lives there just lost her cat of 15 years, a tragic trajectory that is inevitable. She was waiting to get another one because she wanted to give herself the proper time to really mourn, but the cat distribution service had other things in mind. The cat was waiting outside, and it was so cold that of course she let her in. She was immediately snuggly, cuddly and warm with affection. She was purring the whole time, and the woman gave the cat some chicken nuggets. She fell in love immediately, but thought it was a one off thing. To her surprise, the cat came back! She basically broke in and decided it's her home now too. The woman couldn't be happier about having a cat, despite initially wanting to wait and get a new cat later.
