Full House Episodes 13 & 14 Thoughts

God, this was a depressing episode!
• When Hye Woo told Young Jae to go and tell Ji Eun not to leave I both cheered – this woman respects herself, dammit – and wanted to hug her. It really is too bad that Min Hyuk was so sure of his feelings for Hye Woo not being romantic because those two are really going to need, and deserve, to have someone they love return that love. Poor Hye Woo. I felt so bad for her sitting there in the bar listening to him talk about Ji Eun but it also rather felt like... karma, for all those many, many times she did the exact same thing with him. When he talked about liking Ji Eun but always hurting her and being unable to even take care of her I wondered if Hye Woo kind of felt like it was a slap in the face about the way she did something very similar to Young Jae by taking him for granted. But she sucked it up and gave him excellent advice, and she told the truth even though she didn’t actually have to.
• I just don’t see how people can hate her so much. She spends most of the series in some sort of hurt/pain/distress, in love with two men who don’t love her back and ends up heartbroken twice. She’s not actually a bad person and she shows that especially well in the bar scene with Young Jae. I loved that scene and her during it. I loved her apologising to him – for hurting him, her best friend and then telling him sincerely that she releases him because she is strong. She’s all together for him and then goes to weep in the toilet... That girl needs a serious hug! If I could write I would so be writing a happy ending for her.
• Also I liked her line about how she’s grown up now and so doesn’t eat ice cream when upset, she drinks alcohol. Then we get a shot of Young Jae drinking as he fights crying himself. Oh, poor sad people. And of course we get Min Hyuk and Ji Eun getting their own sad scenes. Geez.
Episode 14
• Ji Eun’s talk with her father-in-law rivals her asking for a divorce as most painful scene of the show. Ouch. It did make me cry a bit. When he said that he didn’t want to hear ‘father’ from her again and that he didn’t want to see her again I felt so bad for both of them. I keep thinking back to how much she loved them, and what it was like for her to have a family again. I have to wonder why they didn’t try to defend themselves better though. Mother’s reaction was very understated compared to the others and while she was clearly very hurt I think the most possibilities for reconciliation lay with her.
• I love that she calls Min Hyuk when she needs help or is upset. I love that he has become her best friend. But I also really loved this line – “Sorry for always calling only when I need you.” – which was just so self-aware and wonderful for that. I liked her telling him to call her when he has a problem. I just really like how he makes her happy and takes her sadness away, if only for a little while, and listens to her. They have a great relationship and I’m very pleased how their friendship has been portrayed.
• I loved the Hye Woo/Ji Eun scene. I loved how friendly it was and that Hye Woo was as great a friend to Young Jae as he has been to her and that she actually went to tell Ji Eun that he loved her.
• Young Jae’s press conference was actually pretty amazing and he was wonderful during it. But I don’t see how anything that he said would have a negative impact on either of them. In fact I would think it would only help their cause (since only a few key people are in the know as far as the whole ‘contract’/fake marriage thing). I mean he said he loved her and went on and on about how wonderful she was and how wonderful she made him feel and then ended it by saying because he loved her he was giving her a divorce since everything that had been happening, and being a focus for the press, was making her so unhappy. I see nothing bad there, in my opinion. I really don’t see, however, how she could miss seeing that press conference and how upon seeing it she could stay away from Young Jae and not throw herself into his arms. That was a pretty impressive declaration of love especially for Young Jae, and on camera too!
• But it seems like she did miss the press conference because we go from them both sadly remembering their life together to a fast-forward where she lives alone in Full House again (see the mess), wears her hair differently (straight, and it’s very pretty), and has Min Hyuk showing up at her door with flowers and a smile and which she greets with a huge smile of her own. So how much time has passed? From a fic perspective it would be very easy to write Ji Eun/Min Hyuk jumping off from this point which was really nice of the show since I know that’s never going to happen.
• I have to say in that last scene of Ji Eun she has never looked prettier. I thought she looked absolutely gorgeous when she smiled at Min Hyuk and I don’t know if it’s the hair or the smile or the lighting or what but, yes, gorgeous. I loved her expression when she saw the flowers (after he revealed himself from behind them) – it was just so... soft. Plus I just really love that smile. ... hmm, after watching it a couple times she also kind of reminds me of Lana right then.
